Wild and Woolly: An Elephant and his Sheep | oasishd.ca
Themba, the baby elephant, lost his mother after she fell down a cliff. The team at the Shamwari Rehabilitation Centre rescued him and for two years they dedicated their lives to getting this very special orphan back to the wild.
Themba soon befriended a very patient sheep named Albert… Albert never left Themba’s side and would follow Themba and his carers on long walks; share in Themba’s favourite snack of acacia pods; and when Themba took a dust bath, so did Albert.
I love how Themba is imitating all of Albert’s behaviors

Guide Goose of the Day: Renata Kursa, a villager from Poland, says she was heartbroken after her dog Baks lost his sight in a recent accident.
But her four-year-old goose Buttons was more than happy to lend her eyes to Baks, leading him with her neck, or directing him with her honks.
“[G]radually Buttons got him up on his feet and starting walking him around,” says Kursa. “They’re inseparable now - they even chase the postman together.”

The recent weather at Noahs Ark Zoo Farm in Bristol seems to have had a warming effect on the relationships between some of the animals. The zoo’s male giraffe Gerald has amused visitors and staff by making close friends with the zebra family. The family of three Chapmans zebra - named Zebedee, Zara and Zelda - and the giraffes share a spacious paddock in the African continental section of North Somerset’s award-winning family park.
“A lemur which was taken home by zookeepers after an operation has made best friends with their dog. Stumpy the lemur and Pie the Labrador Collie cross met when the primate was brought home by Joy and John Palmer before Christmas to convalesce after an operation on his back leg and the two have since been inseparable. Joy, who runs Porfell Wildlife Park and Sanctuary, near Liskeard, Cornwall with John, says Pie’s paternal instincts have kicked in after he ‘adopted’ the lemur, which he is now nursing back to full health.” telegraph.co.uk
This hamster should be dinner, not a snake’s best friend – and in fact zookeepers offered up Gohan the hamster (whose name means “meal” in Japanese) as a tasty snack when Aochan the snake refused to eat frozen mice. But instead of chowing down, he made a friend. The pair cohabit in harmony in a cardboard box at the Mutsugoro Okoku zoo in the outskirts of Tokyo.
